Chesterfield Responders are soon going to be recruiting EMAS CFR's to join our team.

As a CFR you will be be attending real life 999 emergencies, treating individuals and assisting Paramedics/Technicians at various calls.

As a CFR you are logged on to the EMAS 999 Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and despatched at the same time as an ambulance or in some cases the first and only available resource at that time of the call coming in when all other ambulance resources are in Kilo 0 (no available resources). You will then be backed up by the next available vehicle once one comes free.

So as you can appreciate, although it's a voluntary role, we play a very important part in someone getting early treatment prior to the arrival an ambulance crew. For example, a patient experiencing cardiac arrest every second counts. For every minute that passes without defibrillation a person’s chances of survival can decrease by up to 10%.

So, could you be a CFR?

. Are you up for a challenge?
. Would you like to help people in the community?
. Can you give up some free time?
. Do you want to learn essential lifesaving skills?
. Do you hold a full, clean driving licence?
. Are you in reasonable good health?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all of these questions then you could be the person we are looking for.
